Teachers in the Wild
Posted on 06/02/2020Teachers in the Wild Four members of staff went to Whipsnade Zoo on Thursday night but not to see the animals. We were invited by Luton Teaching School Alliance to share some of the innovative ways we teach in Harpenden Academy with approx. seventy Luton Headteachers and Teachers. Mrs Davies spoke about ‘Rosie Red’ and Miss Curtis about ‘Bunchems’ in the classroom and how they help the children connect their learning. Mrs Johnston spoke about our portfolios and exemplification folders as a way of tracking our Harpenden Academy curriculum and standards. Mrs Aylott talked about the magic of her ‘talking pens,’ pritt stick and visiting dinosaurs! It is terrific that Harpenden Academy is being recognised for our original and thought provoking style of teaching. I’m pleased to say that we too, learnt a great deal.
