Aslan Year 1/2 Class

Welcome to Year 1/2! We will be learning about lots of exciting new topics this year including our first topic, the Great Fire of London. In addition to our topic learning, there will be a strong focus on Reading, Writing and Maths skills, particularly for the Year 2s in preparation for their SATs in the Spring Term. These assessments will take place around the month of May and usually take a few weeks to complete. Please make sure you are aware of this as it is a National requirement for your child to complete these assessments.  The Year 1 children will have their Phonic Screening test in June; again this is a National requirement for your child.

School will start with a 'soft start' between 8:30-8:45am and will finish at 3:20pm.  At the beginning of the school day your child must enter the school building through the Year 1/2 door.  There will be a member of the Key Stage 1 team on this door each morning taking any messages you may have.  The children have the time at the beginning of the day to unpack their bag and change their reading book if they need to.  At the end of the school day Aslan class will exit the building from their external classroom door.  Please remember each day to check the communication in the link book.  Please use these books to inform us of any appointments, change of adult collecting your child, minor issues or any other business concerning your child.

We look forward to a year of fun and exciting learning with you.
