Elmer Year 1 Class

Welcome to Year 1 Elmer!

We will be learning about lots of exciting new topics this year including our first topic - 'Great and Ghastly Events'.  We will then move on to learn about 'Amazing Spaces and Places' in the Spring and finish learning about 'Extreme Weather' in the Summer term.  In addition to our topic learning, there will be a strong focus on our Reading, Writing and Maths skills. Towards the end of Year 1 the children will have their Phonic Screening test in June; this a National requirement for your child. Information will be sent home regarding this throughout the year.

In Key Stage 1, we will be encouraging your child to become more independent.  Please make sure your child brings their pencil case, reading book/reading record and a bottle of water every day.  At the beginning of the day, the children have time to unpack their bag and change their own reading book if they need to.

We look forward to a year of fun and exciting learning with you all.
