6th June 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the final half term before we break up for the Summer holiday. This is a long half term-7 weeks- with plenty to keep us all busy so please keep your eyes peeled to keep on top of various events that are happening.

Bromcom

During the half term holiday, the school moved the school management system from SIMs to Bromcom.  Bromcom, is a more complete management system which, ultimately, means that we will be able to move away from multiple apps and systems. The first system to be replaced is Edulink. As parents you have been informed that this platform is no longer active and you will have been sent a new password and instructions to join part of the Bromcom management system called MCAS (My Child At School).

It is vitally important that parents join the new platform of MCAS because all information regarding the school communications, including school reports, will go through this system. We can see that not all parents have signed up to MCAS which means that they will not be receiving any information from school. We are not able to do this for you so please, if you have yet to sign in to MCAS, make this a priority moving forward.

Exciting news

Mrs Curnow is happy to announce that she is pregnant with her second baby. The baby is not due until late November so she will be with us for a little while longer. I am sure that parents will join us in congratulating her and her husband on their news and her son on becoming a big brother.

School Photos

School photos were completed on Monday and thank you for making sure that the children came prepared with clean uniform and combed hair. The company will be getting back to us soon with the proof copies and we will inform parents when these can be purchased.

Year 5 visit Rothamsted Estate

Team Dahl were so lucky to be invited to explore Rothamsted Estate this week - big thanks again to Dr McGregor for organising everything. It was an amazing experience and we got to see so many interesting things, not least among them, the world’s oldest continuous experiment which has been running since 1843!  We didn’t let the rain stop us from having a brilliant day out! Many thanks to Rothamsted Research for this wonderful opportunity!

Year 5 visit the Guru Nanak Gurdwara

This week, Team Dahl were also lucky enough to visit the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton as part of our second RE unit on Sikhism. We were warmly welcomed and treated to an unforgettable learning opportunity. I was really impressed at how well behaved and respectful the children were and how much they took away from the visit.

Year 5 Gurdwara

Year 3 and Year 4 Woodhall Estate

Year 3 and 4 had an unforgettable day at WoodHall Estate, diving into nature with bug hunting, den building and exploring the outdoor space! Despite the rain, the children embraced all the activities with smiles and muddy boots! From creepy-crawly discoveries to creative woodland shelters, it was a brilliant day of hands -on learning and outdoor fun!

Sports Day, 18th June, 1.30pm-3.00pm at Sir John Lawes (SJL)

I can confirm that Sports day will be at SJL on Wednesday 18th June. The event will be starting at 1.30pm and we expect it will be completed by 3.00pm. FoHA will be organising an ice cream van like last year and also be providing the children with a drink and a biscuit to keep their energy levels up. Fingers crossed for some good weather as we do not have an alternative date.

Quick reminder- Tuesday 24th June - school closed to children

Tuesday 24th June is the Trust conference day when all schools in the Trust will be closed to pupils. I know that FoHA are organising an event for parents to take part in if they wish to do so. Please make sure this date is in your diaries as there will be no one at school on that day if you accidentally forget!

Leavers' Event, Wednesday 9th July, 4.00pm - 6.00pm

Year 6 parents get ready for a delicious treat! Year 6 will plan, prepare and be serving a spectacular three-course meal to their families on this special day. To ensure everyone has plenty of time to enjoy their meal and get organised, pick-up will be at 12:15pm on Wednesday, 9th July.  Full details are on Class Dojo for Year 6 parents.

Times Table Rock Stars Launch, Monday 23rd June

On Monday 23rd June, we will be hosting an exciting day to launch Times Table Rock Stars for Year 2 - Year 6. Times Tables Rock Stars is an online maths programme that takes all the worry out of learning times tables and has a proven track record of boosting children’s fluency and recall in multiplication and division.

There will be an informative pre-launch meeting for parents at 8.30am-9.00am on Tuesday 17th June, to get parents up to speed with the programme so that they can best support at home. Please do come along! We hope to see lots of you there.

We’re back for the summer half term with Friday After School Creative Arts Club. There are a few spaces available, so if you’d like to come along and join us, we’d love to see you!
