21st March 2025
Dear Parents
The highlight of this week was the return of Professor Pango Mango who delighted the children with his poetry and his antics in assembly as we all celebrated World Poetry Day. Professor Pango Mango took assembly and then visited each class to share his poetic expertise.
The photos don’t do the day justice but hopefully your children will be able to share some of the joy with you tonight.
Exciting News!
Keeping up with our love for poetry, we are thrilled to announce that Jessica (Year 3) and Chloe (Year 6) have both won first place in the Harpenden & Villages Primary Schools Poetry Writing Competition!
Their incredible talent has earned them an invitation to the Prize Giving Ceremony on Wednesday, 26th March, where they will receive a certificate from the Mayor of Harpenden. Our young poets will also get the amazing opportunity to share their winning poems with the other guests!
A huge congratulations to Jessica and Chloe.
Red Nose Day
Thank you to all the children who came to school today to celebrate Red Nose Day. I cannot believe that Red Nose Day is celebrating its 40-year anniversary this year. It is quite amazing that this institution is still happening. I remember being a new teacher and organising a huge event at my first school- not quite 40 years ago but not far off- so it is great to see the children in this school taking part in something so special.
The older children in KS2 were treated to a talk from Alby’s mum who works for TK Max and Home Sense who produce the range of clothes that raise money for Comic Relief. She explained how the money raised is used and how the organisation uses everything to help in this country and across the world.
It is not too late to donate to Comic Relief via the Parentpay app and we have asked for a voluntary donation of £1.00 per child.
Year 6 Personal Writing Journals
So much excitement and enthusiasm this week for the launch of our personal writing journals and year six even shared with some year one writers! Well done Team HA for embracing these journals and showing your amazing creativity and individuality!
Easter services
Sadly, we have had to cancel the proposed Easter Service at the church on 4th April due to quite a few diary clashes. We have tried to find an alternative date but sadly we have drawn a blank. We will make sure that we mark this special event in a different way this year and that the children will enjoy that just as much as the Easter service.
Annual Fun Run, Rothamsted Park, Wednesday 26th March 10.00am-11.00am - SAVE THE DATE
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE FROM TUESDAY TO WEDNESDAY.
We are delighted to announce that our annual charity Fun Run, organised by Year 6, is returning on Wednesday, 26th March, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
All children will take part in the Fun Run, and we kindly ask for a voluntary contribution of £2.00. Additionally, Year 6 is hosting a snack fundraiser, and parents who wish to purchase a snack for their child can do so with a £1.00 payment via the ParentPay app. By making the payment on Parentpay you are consenting to your child eating a home baked snack item with ingredients listed.
To summarise:
- All children will participate in the Fun Run.
- If you are able, please make a donation via ParentPay.
- If you would like your child to receive a snack after the run, an additional payment option is available on ParentPay.
All proceeds will go towards supporting three important charities as part of the fundraising efforts led by the Headteacher at Kimpton Primary. Thank you for your support!
