Lunar new year celebrations last week pic.twitter.com/GAQmtKUjeU

15th November 2024

Dear Parents

Cross Country returned this week and thankfully it wasn’t too muddy this year.  The highlight of the event was Winston coming 16th overall in the Year 5 boys' group with approximately 85 children participating.

All the children had a really good time and tried their hardest with virtually everyone coming in the middle of the pack.

Anti-bullying Conference

Today saw the children from Harpenden Academy join with other children from primary schools in the trust at a ‘Anti-bullying Conference’ held at the Samuel Ryder Academy.

The children attending will shortly be working with the other at our school to discuss the information shared during the day.

On the conference, all schools agreed on a definition of bullying, which we will be adopting shortly here, this being:-

Bullying Behaviour is the repeated negative behaviour that is intended to make others feel upset, uncomfortable or unsafe.

We will be altering our website shortly to accommodate this agreed definition, as well as adding additional information.

School Jumper Day,  Thursday 12th December 2024

We will be taking part in 'Christmas Jumper Day' again this year.  If any parents have spare, outgrown Christmas jumpers, which you can donate to the school, we would really appreciate it.

We keep these for the children who might not otherwise be able to join in with the day.  If you can help us in this area that would be terrific.

Odyssey Cinema Trip, Wednesday 18th December 2024

We will be taking the whole school to the Odyssey cinema for their Christmas film on Wednesday, 18th December 2024. I am aware that lots of information has been sent out regarding this whole school trip already. The deadline to sign up is just one week's time which is Friday, 22nd November. So please can parents take time to sign up to this event via Operoo so we can confirm coaches.

We are looking for parent volunteers for this trip. If you are able to volunteer for the trip and have a current DBS certificate and completed volunteer reference form, please contact your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo or the school office. Thank you to those parents who have already offered their help. Your class teachers will liaise directly with you regarding the logistics of the day.

Christmas School Lunch, Thursday 19th December 2024

On Thursday, 19th December 2024 we will be having our school Christmas lunch.  Aspens has now the Christmas dinner option on Aspens Select.  This is the only option of food on that day, so we really hope that as many of your children will join us - even as a one off meal on that day. Please place your orders by Monday, 2nd December 2024.

If the children don't want to join in with Christmas lunch then please send them in with a packed lunch for the day.

If you need access to your login details for Aspens to book your school lunch then please contact the school office.

Please also ensure your 19th December 2024 school dinner option is selected.
