As part of Safer Internet Day, year 2 explored a variety of dangers online and discussed how to respond to them. Dear Parents

Harvest Festival is soon upon us. Our Harvest Festival assembly will be on Friday 25th October. at 9.00am  This is always a special day for us with plenty of parents joining us for our special day.  This year we shall again be supporting ‘The Kings Pantry’ who are a charity that provide families in the local area with food parcels, hygiene parcels and all manner of other items.

Each year we ask if parents and families will kindly donate any of the items below to this special event.  If the children can bring in donations on the morning of Friday 25th October we will display it all for the assembly. Thank you

Mrs Newcombe on Maternity Leave

Next week will be Mrs Newcombe's final week at school as she prepares to start her maternity leave. We want to extend our warmest wishes to her and her family with this wonderful new chapter in her life. Her absence will be profoundly felt by the staff, parents, and children, as she is such a popular and capable member of our office team. 

Magicbooking Wrap Around Booking System - now open!

The wrap-around booking system, Magicbooking, opened on Monday, 7th October, and will close on Friday, 18th October 2024. This will cover the period from Monday, 4th November to Friday, 20th December 2024. Please note that on the last day of term, Friday, 20th December, you will only be able to book for breakfast club as the school will finish at 12 noon. Additionally, there will be no ‘Owls’ club on 11th November due to staff training. It’s very important that parents complete their bookings within the designated window, as Laura is no longer managing this. Bookings will now be handled off-site by central services, so there will be no flexibility for changes or late additions.

Reminder - Parent Coffee Morning - Behaviour

On Thursday 24th October at 9:00am, Mrs Curnow will be holding a coffee morning to share the school's approach to behaviour management and how we aim to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of our children. Please note, this will not be an appropriate forum to discuss individual children or incidents.

Parents' Evening

Parents evening is next week so we hope to welcome you into school. The window to book meeting times with teachers has now closed.  If you have missed out please phone the office to register for any cancellations we may have or any alternative timings depending on teacher availability.

No Clubs on Tuesday and Thursday evening next week
There will be no clubs on Tuesday and Thursday evening after school next week due to parents' evenings. No football or choir on Tuesday and no Tech club on Thursday. 

The morning and lunch time clubs will go ahead as normal on both Tuesday and Thursday.

All other clubs on other days will run as normal. 

Reminder for Rubik's club and the children who attend on a Tuesday - please bring your rubik's cubes!

Mayor's Christmas Card Design Compeition

Please find below a flyer for this year's Mayor's Christmas Card Design Competition.

The closing date is Friday 8 November.

As well as the chance for the winner to switch on the Christmas Lights at this year's Christmas Carnival and for their design to be used as the Mayor's Christmas Card, the winner will also receive 4 tickets to see this year's Christmas Panto 'Sleeping Beauty' at the EMC!

Historically we have done really well in this competition so I encourage you all to have a go - it would be lovely to se Harpenden Academy well represented again.
