Lunar new year celebrations last week pic.twitter.com/GAQmtKUjeU

12th July

Dear Parents

My goodness me - how did this become the last full week of the academic year! Quite amazing!

This week we have been preparing the 'Dates for Diaries' for next academic year - it feels very odd organising winter events in the middle of July.

The highlight of this week has been the Year 6 leaver's events. On Wednesday night all of our leaving Year 6 families joined us for our end of year celebration. The food was delicious and the company was fabulous too. The children sang their especially adapted songs and created a dance of their own to celebrate their own uniqueness.

I always feel that the end is really close when we hold the Year 6 leaver's event.

Move Up Day

Following on from the leaver's event was 'Move Up' day. We welcomed many new families into our school across many age ranges. The school felt very snug!

The children spent time with their existing and new teachers and had a great time. I heard one little girl walk past answering her Dad's question as to how was her day. 'It was amazing!' That is what we want to hear.

Reports

End of year reports are being sent out today via Edulink, please keep your eye out for notification when they arrive.

FoHA End of Term Bash, Wednesday 17th July

Just a quick reminder that FoHA are providing an end of year celebration on Wednesday, 17th July for the children. If any parents can lend a hand at this event that would be most welcome. Please contact the school office if you can help.

FoHA are kindly providing the children with ice pops - if you would like to offer an alternative snack due to allergies then please let the office know.

Final Words

This will be our final newsletter for the academic year. We've had an incredible year, with our end-of-year external assessments showcasing the outstanding achievements of the children at Harpenden Academy, from EYFS to KS2, surpassing both Hertfordshire and national averages. I am extremely proud of our school's accomplishments.

Mrs Marchment

It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to Mrs Marchment as a permanent member of staff. She hasn't gone forever - she will still be in school on different occasions and will also be around in 'Owls' too. Mrs Marchment has decided that with her final child going to university, it is time to devote a bit of time to herself. I'm sure that resonates with plenty of us - including me! We wish her well with her new adventures and we will love to see her back when she does dip and out of school.

On a non-academic front, we have finally started to excel in sporting events, winning the Scholars' Sports Cup and earning the golden award for Sports Games. Next year, we will be introducing new sports for the children, so watch this space!

On behalf of my staff and myself we wish you a lovely holiday and time away from school. Turn off the alarms if you are able and I hope to see you all again in September.

To our lovely Year 6 children - we again wish you all the best for your secondary school. We have got you to a point where you can open your wings and fly! Don't forget us!

Have a lovely 6 weeks and see you on Wednesday, 4th September at 8.30am.
