Open Air School History Visit, Year 6, February 2019
Posted on 28/02/2019On Tuesday Year 6 were visited by Helen as part of their Thrive Outside project. She shared video and photographic evidence from the early 1900s showing children with TB or without a home being brought to the first Children's Home in Harpenden (the Oval) and the Sanitorium (a hospital which is now part of the Kings School in Harpenden). The children were fascinated to hear about the reasons for moving the children to an area with lots of fresh air and to hear that even one hundred years ago, people were aware of the physical and mental health benefits of spending time outdoors. Thank you Helen for the inspiring visit.
