BritishGo Championship - winners! November 2018

Posted on 04/12/2018

A team of 7 from Harpenden Academy travelled to Birmingham bright and early on Saturday 1 December to play a full day of matches in the British Youth Go Championships. This is the main annual event for British Go players under 18. Six youth titles from U18 to U8 are contested in addition to the overall Champion title and the titles of Primary and Secondary School Champions. We had a great tournament this year, winning the Primary School Championship. The finals for this were against a team who were much stronger than us on paper but we managed to hold on 2-1 to clinch the trophy. Emily also secured the runner up spot in the Under 10 section with a great run of three wins in a row. We also had a good showing in the beginners sections where most of our opponents secondary school children with Dayn securing 3 wins out of 5. And Auden earned a prize for her fighting spirit. Well done to Beatrix, Emily, Saskia, Auden, Dayn, Kaylyn and Darin!
