Ladybirds have been creating their own “first, then and now” maths stories using a tens frame. They used the counters to represent the marbles Monkey had put in the jar. It was great to hear them using the sentence stems to retell their number story. pic.twitter.com/kpuQjpN2dV

Reception Admissions 2024

Welcome to Harpenden Academy and we are very much looking forward to welcoming all our new families to our school community.

Mrs Withers, our EYFS Leader, will have been in contact with all our new families by phone to welcome you and to answer any questions that you may have. Parents will have received a welcome letter in the post and in early May your school information packs will be sent to you by email.

We look forward to inviting you into school at our Parent Information evening and also for our Teddy Bear's picnic. You will visit our EYFS teaching team and be introduced to key members of staff.

From September 2011 all primary schools must offer children a full-time place at the start of the September term. However, legally children do not have to be in full-time education until the term after their 5th birthday.  Delaying your child’s entry into school is called ‘deferred entry’. You can request this, but your child must start before the end of the school year during which they turn 5.  The expectation is all those starting in September will attend full days but if you are a parent of a summer born child and have concerns over full school days please talk to us.

Parent Information Evening at Harpenden Academy, Thursday 20th June 2024 at 6.30pm

We will be holding a parent information evening on Thursday, 20th June at 6.30pm in the school hall.  This event is for parents only.  This is a perfect opportunity for parents to meet our EYFS Teaching Team for the first time and to hear how the Reception year unfolds. The meeting will be hosted by our EYFS Lead, Mrs Withers, who teaches the Reception class.  There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session at the end.

If you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact our office team by email on office@harpendenacademy.co.uk or by phone on 01582 716910.

Goody Bag

Parents leave our information meeting with a goody bag filled with key information and something special for the children joining us in September. If you unable to make the information evening then please contact the school office to organise a collection time.

Teddy Bear's Picnic, Thursday, 11th July 2024

As part of joining Harpenden Academy, we would like to invite you to our Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Thursday 11th July 2024 from 1.00pm – 2.30pm. This event is for your Reception child, their teddy and for parents/carers. Please RSVP via your Operoo e-form.

Uniform

A very high standard of uniform is expected at all times throughout the school day and on the way to and from school. Please ensure that all items of uniform and equipment are clearly marked with your child’s name.

All items can be obtained from the school suppliers:
