We loved our visit from Steel today, learning all about resilience and the importance of sleep, healthy diet, being active, hydration and showing gratitude (noticing glimmers). Can anyone beat Steel’s record of 757 burpees nonstop in under an hour?#pshe

As part of Safer Internet Day, year 2 explored a variety of dangers online and discussed how to respond to them. They had some excellent ideas and good knowledge of the safety features of various apps. They created posters to teach younger children about what they had learnt.

Dear Parents/ Carers

We hope you enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend- it seems so long ago already.

SATs week 11th May -14th May

Next week our Year 6 children will be undertaking their SATs tests. The children always enjoy SATs week – mainly because of the breakfasts that the parents provide daily in school and the extra playtime afterwards. However, we wish them huge luck in their tests and hope that all their hard work pays off. We won’t know the results until July but irrespective, I want to acknowledge how hard the children and the Teachers/ TAs have worked with them to make sure they are confident and resilient.

Parents' Taster Session

We held the parents’ taster session for our new catering company 'Innovate'. The response from parents was very positive and the team were really happy to meet with everyone. Hopefully some more of our children will now start taking school dinners in September and we will repeat this event again in the new academic year.

Scholars' Cup- Year 4

On Wednesday, two of our Year 4 teams participated in the Samuel Ryder Scholars' Cup, a fun and competitive event focused on football and tag rugby. The children had a fantastic day and the tag rugby team particularly enjoyed learning new skills and developing their teamwork.

The tournament included all primary schools within our Trust. While our teams didn’t secure overall victory in either football or tag rugby this time, they came 2nd overall. The children showed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day.

We look forward to our Year 6 pupils competing in football and netball in two weeks’ time, and we wish them the best of luck in their matches!

Year 5 Ancient Greece Workshop

On Wednesday, Year 5 took part in an engaging and immersive Ancient Greece workshop, delivered by History Off the Page. Pupils stepped back in time to experience daily life in 5th century BC Athens, gaining insight into the key issues of the era. The hands-on sessions offered a range of cross-curricular activities, including crafting mosaics and performing Ancient Greek plays, bringing their history learning to life in a memorable and interactive way.

Year 3 Cricket Skills

On Tuesday morning, Potter Class took part in a cricket workshop ran by Mr Heskett. They were split into four teams and took it in turns to field and bat.  The batters had three tees with balls on to bat and then they ran against the other team between the stumps.  Fielders had to replace all three balls to stop the batters.

The children showed great team work and enthusiasm in cheering on their team mates.  It was a great way to start the week.

The BBC Latitude Children's Poetry Competition

Millie Chasteauneuf from Year 3 recently entered the BBC's Children's Poetry Competition, as advertised in our recent newsletter. Millie submitted an acrostic poem titled 'Generations'. The final winners will be announced in the next few weeks, but the BBC has chosen a few of the entries to read out on national radio next Thursday and again on Saturday, and Millie is one of the entrants selected. To us, she is already a winner — well done, Millie!
