We loved our visit from Steel today, learning all about resilience and the importance of sleep, healthy diet, being active, hydration and showing gratitude (noticing glimmers). Can anyone beat Steel’s record of 757 burpees nonstop in under an hour?#pshe pic.twitter.com/FLHRxZ2Lkq

Dear Parents

Christmas Rotary Concert

Choir children in Year 5 and Year 6 sang at the annual Rotary Carol Concert on Wednesday night.  It is a lovely evening and is the true start of Christmas in many respects as all Harpenden and village schools come together to make the Christmas festivities.  Thanks to Mrs Moss and the children for representing our school so wonderfully.

Christmas Decorations

The Christmas tree has been installed on the school roof, and it looks absolutely stunning! A huge thank you to FoHA for generously donating this beautiful tree. It’s a perfect addition to the Festival of Light, which brightens up our school entrance with its enchanting winter display.

On Friday night, the staff and I stayed late to ensure everything was ready to welcome the children back on Monday. Seeing their surprise and joy was truly heart warming and made all our efforts worthwhile!

13Christingle

The Christingle service is on Monday 9th December at 6.30pm at St Nicholas Church.  This is an open event for KS2 children and families but if any of your younger children wish to attend then the more the merrier.  Remember blankets, hats etc as the church boiler has broken.

Xmas 2024 Christingle

Christmas Nativity

The KS1 EYFS children do their nativity performances next week on Wednesday, 11th December at 6.00pm & Thursday, 12th December at 9.30am.  The children performing in the Nativity need to be brought back at 5.30pm to the main office entrance for the evening performance. We hope to see you there.

Behaviour Procedure

At the recent Parent Governor event parents again brought up the issue of the school's ‘behaviour procedure’.

We have now held 2 events (one last term and one this term), on the behaviour procedure in school.  I am happy to organise another in the evening, but I cannot keep taking Mrs Curnow out of class to do events which have been attended by only 3 parents -  the ‘Behaviour Policy’ is also on the website.

Please can parents complete the Edulink form to let us know the best date option to hold an information meeting. This is a parent meeting only and we will go with the majority preferred date. We will not be discussing individual cases.

Date options:

  • Monday, 13th January at 6.00pm
  • Tuesday, 14th January at 3.45pm

Governor Coffee Mornings for parents - all welcome

Our Chair of Governors, Dhanmita and our Parent Governor, Helen will be doing 2 coffee mornings meeting for parents from 8.30am. Please just turn up - you will be warmly welcomed. The last meeting will be held on the date below.

Ukulele: Miss Fairweather will continue with her current group of children as they are building their skills. If your child is on the waiting list then please contact the school office.

Choir: The current choir will continue and children do not need to re-register. Please contact the school office if your child would like to join choir.

Spike Ball: This will no longer continue for this term as Mrs Davies has organised for a contractor to teach boxing in the hall on a Friday afternoon.

There are less teacher clubs on offer in the Spring Term due to our Year 6 teaching team being used for SATs booster classes. Year 6 children will be enrolled on these booster sessions shortly.

Please contact the school office if you have any queries.

Christmas jumper day is looming so we are again asking for the donations of old jumpers that no longer fit your children.

If you do have any old spare Christmas jumpers you no longer need please bring these to the school office where we will make sure that they make their way to the right places.

We will be wearing them on Thursday 12th December as well as Christmas Cinema day and Christmas Lunch Day.

Christmas School Lunch, Thursday 19th December 2024

The menu for Christmas Lunch Day has been set and is below.  Christmas lunch is available for all children in school, including the children who historically have packed lunches.  The cost of the Christmas lunch is £2.60 and if you wish your child to take part please use Aspens Select to order your meal.

The deadline for booking your Christmas lunch has passed. If you have forgotten to do this then please contact the school office asap.

On Wednesday, 18th December, the usual 'Roast Dinner Wednesday' has been adjusted because the Christmas dinner the following day will also be a roast. Instead, Aspens has updated the menu to Fish & Chips or Veggie Fingers & Chips. Parents are kindly asked to log in to Aspens and update their meal selection for that day. Thank you!

If the children don't want to join in with Christmas lunch then please send them in with a packed lunch for the day.

Please also ensure your 19th December 2024 school dinner option is selected.
