This week in assembly we celebrated Martin Luther King day, reading about this inspiring activist who devoted his life to fighting for civil rights. We linked to other activists such as Nelson Mandela, Greta Thunberg, Malala and Rosa Parks; and to our value of respect.

Our fourth visitor of the day was Tendaii, a train and air engineer. Our Y6’s were fascinated by his models and recognised how scale factors work in producing drafts of projects.

King's Coronation Day Celebrated in School

We have another long weekend in front of us as we mark the historic event of the King's Coronation. The children in school have spent the last few weeks learning about our new King and this has culminated with today's celebrations. This morning in assembly we showed off our King and Queen costumes and shared some examples of the work we have undertaken. The children then decorated their crown biscuits and at 11.00am we had elevenses with squash and ate our biscuits. Thank you Laura for lovingly making 220 crown-shaped biscuits for the children. This afternoon the teachers have excelled themselves with an afternoon of coronation craziness.

The whole day has been very exciting and special for the children as we make memories for them to keep way into their future lives.
